Standards Organizations Involved with SCORM™

The SCORM™ specifications are a joint effort of the Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training Committee, ARIADNE, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and IMS (Instructional Management System) Global Learning Consortium.

• ARIADNE (Alliance of Remote Instructional Authoring & Distribution Networks for Europe) worked on Educational Metadata specifications.
   
• Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training (CBT) Committee
  • The SCORM™ Runtime Environment is based on AICC’s CMI001 Guidelines for Interoperability (1.53 MB pdf file).
     
• IEEE's Learning Technology Standards Committee
  • The SCORM™ meta-data dictionary is based on the LTSC's Learning Objects and Metadata (LOM)
     
• IMS (Instructional Management System) Global Learning Consortium
  • SCORM™ uses IMS's Content Packaging and XML Binding specifications.
